One of the main problems encountered when keeping birds is providing the correct nutritional balance in their diet. A major contributor to poor health in birds can be attributed to calcium deficiency. There are two readily available form of calcium. Calcium Carbonate which is most effective and is used in many of the vitamin supplements, and Calcium Phosphate which is found in cuttlebone. Cuttlebone also provides an additional item to interest your bird. The destructive act of chewing a cuttlebone is said to be quite therapeutic, especially for the more intelligent parrots.
